It took a thousand monkies watching a thousand hours of TV on a thousand television sets to create the bizarre art work that you will find here.
The Monkies spent months building a small raft out of fiber glass branches they pulled off the fake trees in their habitat at the Detroit Zoo. Late one night in the fall of 2002 the monkies launched their raft into the murky waters of the moat that held them captive on their tiny island. Bravely, they made it the thirty feet across the water and escaped under the light of the full moon. The monkies fought the zombies of Detroit courageously in the dark abandoned streets of the city as they made their way to Chicago. There they found a great apartment in the neighborhood of Logan Square and most of them got jobs. Some as waiters and some as chefs, some worked at liquor stores and some at an investment firm down town near the Sears Tower. Others stayed unemployed spending long lazy afternoons on the shores of Lake Michigan napping to the sweet chimes of the sailboats in the harbor. Others enjoyed getting lost in the 9 floors of the Chicago Public library or the halls of the city’s many great museums. Despite the laziness of the unemployed monkies or perhaps because of it, the monkies started to gain an interest in the arts and began creating some of their own. The monkies even got a few shows and put together a book of their work. But the monkies grew restless and needed a change of scenery and the chance to get more of their work out into the world. So the monkies packed up their things and headed west until they reached the sunny coast of Los Angeles. There the monkies found some work which you can see on the freelance page. But it turns out too much sunshine is a bad thing and the monkies had to escape from LA. Killmonkies have now become a group of revolutionary monkey soldiers on an artistic rampage. Killmonkies like to create pop art using stencils, shrinkable plastic, silk screening inks and clever drawings they create using the opposable thumbs on both their hands and feet. They can be found roaming between Chicago and Detroit.
KillMonkies are currently accepting requests for freelance work. If you need any of design or writing work such as, logo, CD and flyer layouts, article writing, graphic design, or websites please contact the monkey wrangler, Katherine at info@killmonkies.com for pricing and availability.
